Information about the stenter

The stenter is a drier with a revolving chain. The chain can be designed with either pin carriers or clips, or a combined chain can be equipped with pin carriers and clips. The chain can be adjusted according to the web width. In this way, the exit can also be adjusted to the required web width. Before pinning at the stenter machine infeed, there is the so-called overfeed, using this device significantly more web can be pinned per meter chain (up to 50 %). This "overlength" allows the textile to "shrink" (relax) in the drier, which gives the textile high dimensional stability even after various washing and drying cycles. Thanks to the stenter infeed and various selvedge opening devices, even difficult curled edges can be spread and the web applied to the pin chain with minimal over-pinning. There is also very often a very wide variety of coating devices in the infeed.
